RRB Group D Recruitment 2026 – Complete Notification, Guidelines & Preparation Strategy

The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) conducts the Group D recruitment to fill Level-1 posts in Indian Railways. The RRB Group D Recruitment 2026 is expected to be announced soon, offering a golden opportunity for candidates who have completed 10th class or ITI and are aiming for a secure government job.

This recruitment is conducted at a national level and attracts lakhs of aspirants every year due to its job stability, attractive salary, and career growth.

Candidates selected through Group D recruitment may be appointed to the following posts:

  • Track Maintainer Grade IV
  • Helper / Assistant in Electrical, Mechanical, Signal & Telecommunication departments
  • Assistant Pointsman
  • Other Level-1 posts as notified by RRB

Educational Qualification

  • Candidates must have passed Matriculation (10th Class) from a recognized board
    OR
  • Must possess an ITI certificate from NCVT/SCVT recognized institute

Age Limit (Expected)

  • Minimum Age: 18 years
  • Maximum Age: 33 years

Age Relaxation:

Relaxation in upper age limit is applicable for SC, ST, OBC, PwBD, Ex-Servicemen as per government norms.

The selection process is conducted in multiple stages to ensure fair recruitment:

1. Computer Based Test (CBT)

  • Objective type questions
  • Multiple choice questions (MCQs)
  • Negative marking applicable

  • General Intelligence & Reasoning
  • General Science
  • General Awareness & Current Affairs

2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

Candidates qualifying CBT are called for PET.

PET Guidelines (Expected):

  • Male Candidates:
    • Lift and carry 35 kg weight for 100 meters in 2 minutes
    • Run 1000 meters in 4 minutes 15 seconds
  • Female Candidates:
    • Lift and carry 20 kg weight for 100 meters in 2 minutes
    • Run 1000 meters in 5 minutes 40 seconds

3. Document Verification

Original documents related to:

  • Education
  • Age proof
  • Caste certificate (if applicable)
  • Aadhaar / ID proof

4. Medical Examination

Candidates must meet the medical fitness standards prescribed by Indian Railways.

  • Total Questions: 100
  • Total Marks: 100
  • Duration: 90 minutes
  • Negative Marking: 1/3 mark deducted for each wrong answer

Selected candidates will be placed in Pay Level-1 (7th Pay Commission).

  • Basic Pay: ₹18,000 per month
